Waxing Aftercare – Pre & Post Treatment Tips from The Wax Club Chelmsford

Wax Preparation

To ensure a successful and comfortable waxing experience, it's essential to prepare your skin properly beforehand, whether you are opting for body waxing services, facial waxing services, or intimate waxing.

Here's what you need to do:

Hair Growth: Allow your hair to grow for at least 2-4 weeks before your appointment.

Exfoliation: Exfoliate the area a day or two before your appointment to help remove dead skin cells and prevent ingrown hairs.

Hydration: Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment.

Cleanliness: On the day of your appointment, ensure you're clean and free of any lotions, oils, or skincare products in the area to be waxed.

Pain Management: If you're concerned about discomfort during waxing, consider taking a mild pain reliever like ibuprofen 30 minutes before your appointment. Avoid caffeine, as it can increase sensitivity.

Comfortable Clothing: Wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing to your appointment.

Communication: Don't hesitate to communicate with your waxing technician about any concerns, preferences, or specific areas you'd like to focus on during your body waxing services or any other waxing procedures.

Waxing Aftercare

Avoid heat and sun exposure: for the next 24-48 hours after your body waxing services, stay away from hot baths, saunas, steam rooms, sun-beds, and any sun exposure.

Wear loose clothing: choose loose-fitting attire to allow your skin to breathe and minimize friction, especially after facial waxing services.

Keep the area clean and dry: to prevent bacterial growth and infection following intimate waxing, gently cleanse the waxed area with a mild fragrance-free soap and water. Pat the area dry with a clean towel, avoiding harsh rubbing.

Avoid exfoliation: refrain from exfoliating the waxed area for at least 48 hours after your appointment to ensure optimal healing.

Moisturise regularly: keep your skin hydrated by applying a gentle, fragrance-free moisturiser to the waxed area daily.

Say no to swimming: avoid swimming in pools, hot tubs, or the ocean for at least 24-48 hours post-waxing to protect your skin.

Skip the gym: refrain from rigorous exercise or activities that may cause excessive sweating for the first 24 hours after waxing.

Avoid touching the area: to minimize the risk of infection, be sure to avoid touching the waxed area unnecessarily.

Got an ingrown hair?

Hands off! Resist the urge to touch or pick at it. Aggravating it can lead to deeper inflammation and potential infection from bacteria on tweezers or fingers. Instead, stick to your skincare routine and leave the extraction to the pros who provide body waxing services and facial waxing services. Your waxer can assist safely and effectively with intimate waxing as well. Patience pays off for smoother, happier skin!
